I think the best part of my job is meeting very interesting people and having the opportunity to document their stories. Over the past few years I have had the pleasure to interview tens of people, almost each one of them inspired me in some way; some even revealed new truths or interesting facts I was not aware of. There were also some who rose even higher and made me admire them for what they do and how they impacted people’s lives. One of those is Nadia Swan.

If you’ve lived in Bahrain for a couple of years, you might have heard Nadia Swan on Radio Bahrain, slugging it out (banter wise) with the [in]famous DJ Krazy Kevin on the morning show. What you might not be aware of is that she is one of the founders of The Palm Association, a very active local charity with a busy community action program.
Nadia moved with her husband to Dubai a little over a year ago, but as they’ve lived in Bahrain for 15 years prior to that move, and as both of their children were also born here, Bahrain to them is home. That’s why when a chance remark sparked an idea for an excellent fund raising opportunity, Nadia did not hesitate, she would dedicate the proceeds to The Palm Association. Not only will that endeavour get her to fill her time with a worthy pursuit – not that we would believe for a second that she’s the kind of person who sits idle for long, but she’s humble like that – but also to keep her connected to her chosen home and friends too.
Sharing Nadia’s vision that corporates and individuals must shoulder their social responsibilities by helping their local communities as much as they can, regardless of the size of that commitment, it was my pleasure to present Nadia with a small donation on behalf of everyone at Masadir Media to help her achieve her charitable goal.
Nadia will be on her way to climb Africa’s highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro, on June 21st for the local community in Bahrain, we wish her all the luck in this effort and hope that the trip will only leave her with pleasant memories and excellent sense of achievement.
